This cove was once a mine. Iron came out of its insides for decades, and that history dyed its sand dark: Llumeres looks like no other beach in Asturias.
Today the mine is silent and the cove belongs to curious walkers. It is not a parasol-and-cooler beach — it is for those who want to touch a piece of history with their feet.
Go in decent shoes and with the tide checked on the front page of this site: this cove is earned on foot, and that is why it tastes better.
