Our story
In Luanco, everyone knew Ramón. He went out to sea at night and came back with cold hands and a full boat, and it pained him to watch the best fish of the Cantabrian loaded onto a lorry and carried far away, to tables that would never know where it came from. One winter in 1978 he'd had enough: with four tables, a small kitchen and the stubbornness of a man who loves his village, he opened Casa Ardora twenty metres from the water.
He didn't do it for outsiders. He did it for his own: so that those who risk their lives at sea could sit down and eat what they themselves had caught at dawn. Three generations on, we haven't changed a comma. The Cantabrian still comes through the door with the sun, the cider is poured as it always was, and nobody here watches the clock. Because in a seaside village you don't come to eat fast: you come to stay.
